Once upon a time in a not so far away place there lived a young, quiet girl named Rosemary. She spent her days with her four brothers and her best friend, Patricia Blackburn. They played house, baby sat, and played kick-the-can and hide-and-seek in the cemetery. She was very talented and played the piano and trombone, and even attempted the tuba!
One day, while working at Isaly Dairy, she saw a "young good looking, gentle man with beautiful eyes" named Robert. He had gone to the store to do some shopping.

Robert had grown up in a nearby town. He played games with his best friend Frank Smith and his brother Eugene. They would go to western movies (which only cost a nickel!). He was also a bit of a rebel, riding motorcycles with his brothers and friends. They rode their bikes all over the country.
Robert came to the store frequently and they began to chat with each other. They were officially introduced in July of 1940 on the front steps of a friend's house, Helen Walsh Rodgers. |
