I've been doing a lot of thinking and realized that perhaps I was a bit too ambitious with my goals for this organization. I probably won't do many major fundraisers (at least not right now), however donations will always be accepted and used for good. My goal is to continue to do things that my Grandparents would have done, to the best of my ability. If you know anyone in need, please let me know and I'll see what we can do. Without a board of trustees, I doubt I'll ever be able to officially make us a 501 c3 organization, but I'm still completely open to the idea. In the meantime, I'll do the best I can, in honor of my grandparents.
Bob and Rosemary Rodgers, my grandparents, lived lives of service to others. They rarely said no to anyone in need and asked for nothing in return. They took in sick relatives, kept an eye on the neighbors kids, drove friends to necessary appointments, went out of their way to show people they were loved, and encouraged everyone to go for their dreams.
As a way to “pay it forward” and continue their legacy of caring I have established The 202 Main Street Project. Through various fundraising activities we will be able to make mini-grants to those individuals and groups in need. We will also be teaming up with other organizations whose missions reflect the ideals of Bob and Rosemary.
We anticipate becoming a 501(c) 3 organization, but as of this time cannot guarantee we will be granted that status.
